Cintoria Griffin, a 58-year-old woman from Wilmington, Delaware, was last seen on June 11, 2023. On that day, she boarded a bus in the 1000 block of North Market Street in Wilmington. Later, it was determined that she had gotten off the bus near Kirkwood Highway and Delaplane Avenue. At the time she went missing, Ms. Griffin was wearing a multi-colored dress, gold sandals, and was carrying a green bag.
Concerns for her well-being were heightened because she had medical conditions that required medication. The Wilmington Police Department issued a Gold Alert on June 12, 2023, to ask the public for help in finding her.
The search for Cintoria Griffin involved her family, the community, and law enforcement. Her daughter, Trincia Griffin, was actively involved in looking for her and served as a contact for any potential information. Community organizations also helped by sharing information about her disappearance on social media to raise awareness. The Gold Alert issued by the police provided details about her last known whereabouts and a description of what she was wearing, in the hopes that someone might have seen her.
In early March 2025, human remains were discovered in the Red Mill Farms area, near Capitol Trail and Red Mill Road. On March 31, 2025, authorities confirmed that the remains were those of Cintoria Griffin. The location where she was found was about two blocks from the intersection where she was last seen after getting off the bus.
