In what was described as a typical departure, Joshua Lastra left his family's home in Naugatuck, Connecticut, in January 2025, telling them he would be gone for a few days. This was not entirely out of character for the 23-year-old, who had a history of leaving home for extended periods to live a transient lifestyle in various places.
