In the early morning hours of January 18, 2026, concern grew for 16-year-old Darsha McAllister, who was reported missing from Portsmouth, Virginia. She was last seen around 7:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Fort Lane, an area near the Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center. At the time of her disappearance, Darsha was described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 188 pounds. She had distinctive orange braids, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing pink pajama pants and a tan t-shirt with the word "California" on it. Darsha was not alone when she went missing; she was in the company of two other juvenile females, 14-year-old Jocelyn Krofek and 12-year-old Forever Scott, who were also residents of the facility. The disappearance prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and the community. The Portsmouth Police Department began an investigation, and authorities issued a CODI Alert, signifying that the children were considered to be in danger. There was an elevated level of concern for Darsha as it was reported that she needed medication for a medical condition. The staff at the Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center notified law enforcement and the guardians of the teens as soon as they realized the residents had left without authorization and cooperated fully with the ongoing police investigation. The public was asked to be on the lookout and to provide any information that might lead to the safe return of the three girls. The search for the three missing teens concluded with their safe recovery. A little over a week after their disappearance, authorities confirmed that Jocelyn Krofek and Forever Scott had been located and were safe. The search for Darsha McAllister continued until she too was found safe, bringing an end to the unsettling situation. Virginia State Police announced that Darsha had been located, and the CODI Alert was subsequently canceled. While authorities have not released specific details about where the girls were found or the circumstances of their return, they expressed gratitude to the public and partner agencies for their assistance throughout the search. The case of Darsha McAllister and her friends highlights the urgent and collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the community when a child goes missing.
