In the late spring of 1985, 68-year-old Charlotte Irene Lysdale was settling into a new chapter of her life in the small town of Pine River, Minnesota. A widow for two decades, she had recently moved into the Woodglen Apartments, having put her rural home on Lower Hay Lake up for sale.
