Amy Sue Pagnac, 13 years old at the time, disappeared on August 5, 1989, from a gas station in Osseo, Minnesota. She was with her stepfather, Marshall Midden, returning from a day trip to their family farm in Isanti County. While stopped at the Holiday gas station around 4:30 PM, Midden went inside to use the restroom, leaving Amy in the car. When he returned, she was gone. Amy has not been seen since.
At the time of her disappearance, Amy was described as petite, standing 5 feet tall and weighing about 100 pounds. She had brown hair and blue eyes, and was wearing sweatpants, a light-colored shirt, and tennis shoes. Amy had a history of medical issues, including seizures, which raised concerns that she may have experienced a seizure and wandered off disoriented. However, there were no witnesses to confirm she was at the gas station that day, and authorities were unable to verify her presence outside of her stepfather's account.
Initially, authorities considered the possibility that Amy had run away, as she had a history of doing so in the past, though she always returned home quickly. However, as time passed, her case was reclassified as a non-family abduction. Despite searches and investigations spanning more than three decades, no conclusive evidence has surfaced about Amy's whereabouts. In 2014, police searched her family's home and farm again, but these efforts did not yield new information.
Amy’s family has maintained hope over the years, believing she could still be alive. Her mother suspects that Amy may have been abducted and possibly trafficked.
