A nearby fire was burning in a swamp outside town that night, leading some to speculate that Carla may have gone out to see it and encountered foul play. Additionally, a brown Plymouth Horizon was stolen from a nearby location on the same night, but it has never been recovered, and authorities are unsure if this is connected to her case.
