April Geyer, 21, was last seen on August 14, 1998, after attending a party in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her 15-year-old friend Roseanna Forcum. Both women disappeared under suspicious circumstances, and they were reported missing by their families shortly afterward. Geyer, who had struggled with substance abuse and the loss of her boyfriend in 1997, was described as friendly but troubled, often disappearing for short periods.
However, she always kept in touch with her family, which led them to believe something had gone terribly wrong when they lost contact.
The case remained cold for months, receiving little media attention until an informant came forward, claiming that both women had been murdered shortly after the party. According to the informant, the two women were strangled at an apartment in St. Paul, and their bodies were buried near farmland in Wadena County, Minnesota.
