Peggy Joyce Rusness, aged 41, went missing on April 3, 1976, from her farm in Wolf Lake, Minnesota. That evening, a fire engulfed her home, destroying it completely. Inside the remains of the house, firefighters found the body of her eight-year-old son, Brian, and the remains of two family dogs. However, Peggy and her common-law husband, Bernard Rusness, were not found in the debris. Investigators concluded that the couple had likely survived the fire.
