There have been unconfirmed reports over the years of Heide relocating to Florida, with some family members even claiming to have spotted her during a trip to Disney World. However, none of these sightings were ever verified. In 2012, it was reported that she might have been arrested in Florida, but again, this was never confirmed. Despite decades of searching, Heide's whereabouts remain unknown, and her case is still classified as unsolved.
