Gregory Ryan Forte, a 29-year-old from Selbyville, Delaware, was last seen on February 9, 2010, at around 11:30 p.m. at a small gathering with friends at a condominium on South Carolina Avenue in Fenwick Island. After leaving the gathering, Forte disappeared into the night amid blizzard conditions with a mix of rain, snow, and sleet, which hindered initial search efforts. His vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, was later found parked with the door open and the radio still playing.
His wet sweatshirt, cell phone, and dead battery were discovered inside the car, while his favorite black baseball cap was found near the beach access.
Despite an extensive search involving friends, family, and law enforcement, no further traces of Forte were found until skeletal remains washed up on a beach in Ocean City, Maryland, in late April 2010. The remains were positively identified as his through DNA testing. However, the medical examiner was unable to determine the cause and manner of death, leaving many questions unanswered. The investigation into his death remains open, with the exact circumstances of his disappearance and how he ended up in the water still unclear.
