Initially, the case was considered a family abduction.
Lesley had stopped allowing regular communication between the children and their father, Jeff, and by April 2000, they had disappeared. A man living with Lesley reported that she and the children left with a truck driver, but this claim was never verified. They may have been traveling in a brown 1981 Chevrolet Caprice with Mississippi plates. Since their disappearance, there has been no documented activity on their financial or medical records, raising concerns about their safety.
