In the late summer of 2008, concern grew for a 28-year-old man from Cahokia, Illinois, named Eric L. Smith. He was last seen at his home on August 26, 2008. His wife officially reported him as missing the following day. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance began with him leaving his residence with his cousin.
