In the late autumn of 2006, the life of 27-year-old Gary J. Shanley took an abrupt and unsettling turn, leaving his family and friends in a state of prolonged uncertainty. The last confirmed sighting of Gary was in the early morning hours of November 23, 2006. He was seen at approximately 1:30 a.m. leaving the Double Deuce Tavern, a bar located on Falling Springs Road in East St. Louis, Illinois.
