In the late summer of 2009, Jeffrey Wayne Nelson, a 46-year-old man from Berwick, Louisiana, vanished under troubling circumstances. On September 10, police attempted to pull him over for reckless driving along Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. Instead of stopping, a brief pursuit ensued, which ended with Nelson abandoning his truck at a shipyard in Berwick and fleeing on foot. This would be the last time anyone reported seeing him.
