In the early spring of 1982, a South Carolina family was forever changed by a disappearance that would span decades without answers. On March 3rd of that year, 32-year-old Herman J. Caldwell Jr., known to some as 'Dig,' had a conversation with his mother in Columbia. He mentioned he was heading to Charleston and subsequently visited his bank, where he withdrew $500.
