David Alford, 36, went missing on August 24, 2014, from Boise, Idaho. At the time, he was last seen hitchhiking near an interstate with a cardboard sign that had "Arizona" written on one side and "Utah" on the other. He was wearing a t-shirt, tan cargo pants, and a brimmed hat and was carrying a duffle bag and skateboard. Despite maintaining regular contact with his family through social media, especially around the holidays, all communication abruptly stopped after this
sighting in 2014. His family has not heard from him since.
Nearly eight years later, in July 2022, a major clue in Alford's case emerged. Firefighters battling a wildfire in the Grand Canyon region of Arizona discovered his backpack. Inside were personal items and identification confirming it belonged to Alford. A search of the surrounding 370-acre area was conducted, but no further evidence of Alford's whereabouts was found.
