Jason Keith Cannon, a 2-year-old boy, went missing from his home in Boise, Idaho, on March 16, 1983. Jason was last seen on the front porch of his family's residence at around 2:00 p.m. His mother had briefly gone inside to fetch his jacket, and when she returned, Jason had disappeared. Despite an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhood, which included nearby waterways such as Sand Creek and portions of the Boise River, no trace of Jason was found.
Initially, authorities speculated that Jason might have fallen into the nearby canal, as a toy bucket identified as his was discovered near the Boise River, about a third of a mile from his home. However, several factors cast doubt on this theory: Jason was reportedly afraid of water, and with his older brother on his way home from school and his mother baking brownies, there seemed to be no reason for him to wander off.
Authorities now believe that Jason may have been abducted by a non-family member. Despite decades of investigations and renewed efforts using advanced forensic techniques, such as genetic genealogy, his case remains unsolved. Detectives are still pursuing leads, hoping to one day uncover what happened to Jason.
