John Alden Malloch was 47 years old when he disappeared from Waterville, Maine, on September 26, 1965. He was a White man with brown hair and blue eyes, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 182 pounds, and he wore thick-lensed eyeglasses because injuries suffered during World War II had left him legally blind.
