Michael Wegrzyn, a 63-year-old man from Chardon, Ohio, went missing on April 4, 2017. He was last seen by family as he was leaving Ohio and heading to Marathon, Florida, a destination where he was reportedly living a transient lifestyle. His final communication with family occurred on the same day, during a phone call in which he confirmed his location in Florida. Wegrzyn was believed to be residing in a tent in the Boot Key area and spending time on a boat that was in poor condition and beginning to sink near Sisters Creek.
Wegrzyn's 2001 Nissan Maxima was later found abandoned in a Publix parking lot in Marathon, raising concerns about his whereabouts. Despite investigations by authorities in both Ohio and Florida, little is known about what happened to him after that point. Local Florida law enforcement, in conjunction with Ohio authorities, have not been able to determine the exact circumstances of his disappearance, though foul play has not been ruled out. His family has continued to search for answers, but as of now, the case remains unsolved.
