William Vernon Smith, 78, was last seen on January 19, 2013, departing from Marathon, Florida, aboard a 35-foot sailing vessel named *Blondie*. Smith, along with his companion, Thomas Lee Brewer, told friends they planned to sail to the Caribbean, possibly Jamaica. The two men never returned, and their disappearance went unnoticed for weeks until family members reported them missing on March 1, 2013.
