On the night of April 5, 2022, a violent altercation unfolded at the Snappy Mart, also known as the 14-Junction Truck Stop, located on U.S. Highway 63 North in West Plains, Missouri. Just before 11:00 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old male James Harlan Vineyard lying on the ground at the entrance of the business, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
