On the evening of April 7, 2022, a violent incident occurred in the residential neighborhood of Moline Acres in St. Louis County, Missouri, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Eric Harris. Officers from the Moline Acres Police Department were dispatched to the 9700 block of Lanier Drive approximately fifteen minutes before 5:00 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered Harris suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital for urgent life-saving treatment; however, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical facility. Following the initial response, the Moline Acres Police Department requested the assistance of the St. Louis County Police Department, whose Bureau of Crimes Against Persons subsequently took the lead in the homicide investigation.
Detectives determined through their preliminary inquiries that the fatal shooting was the result of a domestic altercation that had escalated into violence. While authorities established the domestic nature of the dispute, immediate reports following the incident did not publicly release the specific identity of a suspect or details regarding formal charges at that time, though the investigation remained active under the jurisdiction of county detectives.
