In the summer of 2022, a routine traffic stop on a quiet street in North Kansas City, Missouri, spiraled into a tragedy that would claim the life of a dedicated police officer. Daniel Vasquez, a 32-year-old officer with the North Kansas City Police Department, was shot and killed on July 19, 2022. Having served on the force for two years, Vasquez was described as a 'shining star' within his department.
