On the afternoon of September 29, 2022, authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, were called to a residence in the Greater Ville neighborhood following a grim discovery. Just before 4:00 p.m., police officers arrived at the 4600 block of St. Ferdinand Avenue, where they located the body of a young man lying in the backyard of a home. The victim was unconscious and not breathing when first responders reached the scene, and he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Investigators identified the
deceased as Antoine Hines, a 19-year-old Black male from north St. Louis County. An initial examination revealed that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back of the head. The circumstances leading up to his presence in the backyard and the events immediately preceding the shooting were not immediately clear to law enforcement, who canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence.
Despite the launch of a homicide investigation, details surrounding the case remained scarce in the years following the incident. As of late 2025, detectives had not announced any arrests or publicly named any suspects in connection with the killing. The motive for the violence was not disclosed, and police continued to urge the public to come forward with any information that might shed light on the events that ended the teenager's life.
