Patrolman Lawrence J. Pucalik, aged 33, tragically lost his life on November 14, 1980, in Hammond, Indiana. He was working an off-duty security job at a local hotel when he heard a commotion at the front desk around 3:00 am. Several armed suspects had entered the hotel and were attempting to rob the clerk.
