On the night of May 28, 1994, in South Bend, Indiana, the life of 19-year-old Ronald C. 'Ronnie' Ciesielski was tragically cut short. That evening, a distressing 911 call was made from a residence at 265 N. Kenmore Street, reporting a violent home invasion. According to the report, three young Black males, estimated to be in their late teens to early twenties, forced their way into the home.
Inside the house, a struggle ensued, culminating in gunshots.
Ronnie Ciesielski was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene when South Bend Police arrived. Witnesses reported seeing the three suspects fleeing the home just moments before the police were called. They were observed getting into a vehicle and quickly leaving the area.
In the 30 years since the incident, the case has remained unsolved. While investigators have identified persons of interest and conducted interviews with potential suspects, they have not been able to gather enough evidence to file formal charges. The case has been featured on 'Michiana Unsolved' in the hopes of generating new leads. Law enforcement officials believe there are still small but crucial pieces of information missing that could help them solve the case. A cash reward of up to $2,500 has been offered by Michiana Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to an arrest or indictment in connection with the homicide.
