On a tragic Friday morning, December 11, 1998, the city of Goshen, Indiana, lost a dedicated public servant. Patrolman Thomas Edward Goodwin, a 31-year-old male officer with the Goshen Police Department, was fatally shot while responding to a call at the Brookside Manor Mobile Home Park. An eight-year veteran of the force and a U.S. Army veteran, Goodwin was in the process of securing a crime scene when the incident unfolded.
