On April 22, 2000, John Cawley, a 56-year-old resident of Elkhart, Indiana, was found dead in his home at 2002 Raintree. A concerned friend discovered his body on the bedroom floor after going to check on him. The police investigation revealed that Cawley had been shot through his bedroom window, with the fatal gunshot originating from outside the house.
