In the summer of 2006, a wave of violence crested over Indianapolis, and in its tragic wake, it claimed the life of Gregory Howard Bryant. A 44-year-old Caucasian man, Bryant was discovered in the place he should have felt safest—his own backyard on the near east side of the city. On August 4th, he was found shot to death, a victim of a particularly violent week in the city's history.
