In the late hours of a summer night in Indianapolis, Indiana, the life of 34-year-old Roddrick Keith Faulkner Sr. was tragically cut short. On August 18, 2018, Faulkner, a male, was at the Krave Event Complex on West Washington Street, attending a hip-hop concert with 300 to 400 other people. Around 2 a.m., while officers were in the vicinity on another call, they heard the sound of gunshots.
Their investigation led them to the parking lot of the venue, where they discovered Faulkner with a gunshot wound. It is believed that he was shot inside the complex before collapsing outside. Emergency services rushed him to Eskenazi Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department promptly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Their efforts seemed to yield a significant breakthrough two weeks later. On August 31, 2018, law enforcement arrested 31-year-old Christopher Whitfield in connection with Faulkner's death. In a surprising development in June 2019, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office made the decision to drop all charges against Christopher Whitfield. The reason cited for this dismissal was 'evidentiary reasons.' This decision meant that the primary suspect in Roddrick Faulkner's murder was released, and the case was left unresolved. As of now, his murder remains an open investigation, leaving his family and friends still searching for answers and closure in the wake of his violent death.
