On a Memorial Day in 2014, what should have been a day of family celebration turned into a lifetime of grief for the mother of Christopher Pippen. The 19-year-old Black male had promised his mother, Sheila 'Cricket' Dunlop, that he would see her at a family barbecue later that day. It was a promise he was unable to keep. Instead of celebrating with her son, Dunlop found herself at a crime scene on the east side of Indianapolis, grappling with the unbelievable news of his death.
