In the city of Indianapolis, a woman well-known in her community for her kindness and willingness to help others, Julia Mae Morrow, became a victim of a violent crime. At 84 years old, the female retiree had created a warm and welcoming home, not just for her own family, but for many younger relatives she had taken in over the years. A faithful member of the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, she was a beloved figure who had retired from a career as a Ward Secretary at Wishard Hospital.

May 30, 2014, the peace of her home on Dearborn Street was shattered. Julia found herself in a desperate situation, prompting a call to 911 to report a disturbance. The source of the trouble was a 36-year-old man named Quintico Goolsby, who was involved in a confrontation with Julia's 30-year-old granddaughter, Inity Morrow. Goolsby had been spending time with Inity and had returned to the house that morning after a dispute the previous night.
When an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer, Gregory Milburn, arrived at the scene, he was met with gunfire from Goolsby. The officer, protected by his bulletproof vest, returned fire and fatally shot Goolsby. Tragically, by the time the exchange was over, both Julia and her granddaughter, Inity, were found deceased inside the home, both victims of gun violence.
