In the early hours of March 14, 2015, a sense of unease settled over a west side Indianapolis neighborhood as police responded to a call of a person shot. Inside a vehicle, they discovered the lifeless body of 23-year-old John Kinsey Jr. He had been fatally wounded by gunfire, marking another tragic loss to gun violence in the city. Kinsey was a young man known for his goofy and loving personality, someone who could always bring a smile to the faces of his friends and family.
