Nekia Nichelle Hyler, a 31-year-old woman from Michigan City, Indiana, was found dead on April 14, 2015, in a parked vehicle on Holliday Street. Her death was the result of a gunshot wound to the neck, and she was believed to have been killed 24 to 36 hours prior to the discovery of her body. Hyler had been living at a battered women's shelter with her daughter and was reported missing by her sister when she did not return home or report to work on April 13.
