In the spring of 2016, a tragic accident claimed the life of 10-year-old Noah Sarver in Indianapolis, Indiana. On the evening of May 1st, the young male was at a home on the city's east side, near Vermont and Sherman Drive, when he sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Just moments before the incident, Noah had been seen by neighbors playing basketball outside with other children.
Inside the house at the time of the shooting were several other people, including Noah's nine-year-old cousin.
According to reports, the two boys had found a handgun in a nearby alley. While they were together in the home, the gun discharged while in Noah’s possession. His cousin, hearing the sound and seeing what had happened, ran outside for help. When police arrived, they found Noah unresponsive.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the shooting and quickly determined it to be a tragic accident. They concluded that Noah had accidentally shot himself. Consequently, no arrests were made and there were no suspects in his death. Noah was remembered by a neighbor as a polite and great kid. His mother described him as an intelligent fourth-grader who was a straight-A student and loved basketball.
