In the summer of 2016, the life of a young man was tragically cut short in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On June 15th, fifteen-year-old John Bennett Jr., a Black male, was found deceased in an alley located near the intersection of Avondale Drive and Baxter Street. The discovery was made after neighbors in the area reported hearing the sound of gunshots. Responding to the scene, the Fort Wayne Police Department confirmed that the teenager had been the victim of a shooting.
