In the winter of 2017, the community of Evansville, Indiana, was struck by a tragedy involving a 15-year-old boy named Roman Matthew Kellough. His body was discovered on the grounds of Central High School on the morning of Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Authorities were alerted to the scene after a student arriving on campus found him.
Roman, who was born on July 6, 2001, in Henderson, Kentucky, had recently withdrawn as a student from the high school where he was found.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner, Steve Lockyear, confirmed that Roman's death was the result of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. A weapon was recovered near his body at the scene. Based on the investigation, police quickly determined that there was no ongoing threat to the school or the surrounding neighborhood.
Those who knew Roman remembered him as a young man with a variety of interests. He enjoyed playing Xbox, engaging with magic cards, and managing his own YouTube gaming channel. He also had a passion for listening to music, watching Anime, and running track. During the summer, he had worked in catering at Holiday World. His passing left behind a grieving family, including his parents and several siblings.
