In the early morning hours of June 8, 2017, the life of 43-year-old Sunu Mujahid was tragically cut short on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. A male resident of the city, Mujahid was discovered near the sidewalk around 4 a.m. at the intersection of East 10th Street and North Rural Street, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department promptly opened a homicide investigation into the shooting. Detectives canvassed the area and spoke with several individuals who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident in an effort to piece together the events that led to Mujahid's death. Investigators determined that his shooting was unrelated to another shooting incident that had occurred earlier that night in a different part of the city.

Despite their efforts and the interviews conducted, law enforcement officials did not immediately identify any suspects in connection with Sunu Mujahid's murder. No immediate arrests were made in the case, and as time passed, the investigation into his death remained ongoing. The case is believed to still be an open investigation, with authorities seeking further information from the public to bring those responsible for his death to justice.
