In the spring of 2018, a husband, father, and grandfather named Tristan Twilley, a 44-year-old male, had his life tragically cut short in Indianapolis. On the evening of March 30th, outside a barber shop on East 34th Street, the man affectionately known as 'big twill' was fatally shot. Remembered for his big smile, he was well-known in his hometown of Muncie for organizing large Easter egg hunts for the community.
In the wake of the shooting, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police
Department released surveillance video showing a suspect. The footage captured the individual walking around the barbershop before running towards an SUV. It is believed that the person or persons responsible were waiting outside the barbershop for Twilley to leave. Despite the release of the video and pleas from his family for justice, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. The case remains unsolved, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and a void that cannot be filled. His family and friends held a prayer vigil in Muncie, not only to remember a life taken too soon but also to make a call for an end to gun violence.
