In the early morning hours of September 18, 2018, the life of 28-year-old Marquis J. Dawson was tragically cut short in East Chicago, Indiana. Dawson, a Black male, was in the 400 block of Vernon Avenue when he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m., shattering the quiet of the neighborhood.

Responding to the scene, law enforcement found Dawson deceased. The Lake County Coroner's Office was summoned and later pronounced him dead at the locatio ...
