On the evening of February 18, 2019, the life of 36-year-old Katreena Anderson, a Black female from Indianapolis, Indiana, was tragically cut short in an act of domestic violence. Responding to a report of a person shot at approximately 8 p.m. in the 3400 block of Marabou Mills Place, near West 34th Street and Dandy Trail, police discovered a grim scene. Inside a residence, they found Ms.
Anderson, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second individual, identified as 51-year-old Ceasar Johnson, was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Investigators from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department quickly pieced together the sequence of events, classifying the case as a murder and attempted suicide. It is believed that Johnson shot and killed Anderson before turning the gun on himself.
Family members informed law enforcement that the incident was the culmination of domestic issues. One relative reported receiving a distressing phone call from Johnson prior to the shooting, in which he indicated his intentions, leaving the family member with a profound sense of loss. Johnson was placed on life support, with the possibility of his organs being donated. The Marion County Coroner's Office officially ruled Katreena Anderson's death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. At the time, there were no further details released regarding any subsequent legal proceedings.
