On the evening of July 8, 2019, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, 35-year-old Elite Marlee Elliott was fatally shot at the Greenwood Apartments near Spring Street, marking the city's first homicide of the year. Two other individuals were also injured in the shooting and subsequently hospitalized. According to his family, Elliott was an innocent bystander who found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
