On the night of September 9, 2019, in Michigan City, Indiana, a burst of violence cut short the life of 29-year-old Maurice J. Goldman. Responding to a call at approximately 10:45 p.m., police officers made their way to the 3400 block of Salem Court. There, they discovered Goldman, a Black/African American male, lying on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound to his groin.
