In the winter of 2020, the life of a young man from South Bend, Indiana, was tragically cut short. Deshawn Daniel Pfeifer, a 20-year-old male, was found deceased on Saturday, January 4, 2020. His body was discovered by someone passing by in an alley located near the 1300 block of Corby Boulevard in South Bend. An investigation into his death determined that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Known to his loved ones as 'Shawn,' Deshawn was born on May 22, 1999.
He was described as a funny and energetic person with a spirit that could touch everyone he met. He had a smile that was said to light up a room. Having graduated from Pennway Night School in June of 2019, he was employed as a forklift operator at Wesco Distribution and had plans to attend Ivy Tech for an apprenticeship.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit immediately began investigating his death as a homicide. In the course of their investigation, authorities identified a suspect. On January 7, 2020, 28-year-old Dominique Calvin Williams was arrested in connection with Pfeifer's shooting death. Williams was taken into custody and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on a preliminary suspicion of felony murder.
