In the winter of 2020, the life of 24-year-old Shaugnje Scott was tragically cut short in Indianapolis, Indiana. On the morning of January 9th, a 911 call led officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to her apartment on the city's west side. There, they discovered Scott unresponsive in her bed; she had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the young woman's death soon focused on her boyfriend, Damarion Moore. In a grim turn of events, detectives learned that Scott was not his only victim that day. Earlier, Moore had shot and killed another individual, Chrishaun Snelling, outside an apartment complex near West Washington Street and Interstate 465. Following that murder, he went to Scott's apartment located near North Girls School Road and West 10th Street, where he ended her life as she lay in her bed.
After committing the two murders, Moore fled to Illinois in an attempt to evade capture. However, through the diligent work of law enforcement who traced his phone calls and text messages, he was apprehended and brought back to Indianapolis to answer for his crimes. The case against him was built on a foundation of strong forensic evidence and witness testimonies, meticulously gathered by homicide detectives and forensic teams.
In January 2023, Damarion Moore faced a three-day jury trial. He was found guilty on two counts of murder for the deaths of Shaugnje Scott and Chrishaun Snelling. For his violent actions, Moore received a sentence of 116 years in prison, ensuring he would be held accountable for the devastating loss of two lives.
