On a summer evening in Indianapolis, a life was tragically cut short. Thirty-one-year-old Pedro Antonio Membreno Tinoco was fatally shot on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Following the shooting, which occurred near 34th Street and Moller Road, friends attempted to rush him to a hospital for medical attention. However, their efforts were in vain, as he succumbed to his injuries before they could reach help.
Police later discovered Membreno Tinoco inside the vehicle near 16th Street and Indiana Avenue.
The investigation into the murder of Pedro Membreno Tinoco led authorities to identify a suspect, 30-year-old Narkeen Altamirano. The pursuit of Altamirano became an international effort, involving the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Their collaboration with Mexican law enforcement agencies ultimately led to Altamirano's capture in Mexico City.
On December 7, 2018, Narkeen Altamirano was taken into custody by Mexican authorities. He was subsequently extradited back to Indianapolis to face legal proceedings. Altamirano was charged with murder and carrying a handgun without a license in connection with the death of Pedro Antonio Membreno Tinoco, bringing a significant development to a case that spanned across borders.
