On January 9, 2020, Shane McFarland, a 26-year-old resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was found dead alongside his mother, Diane McFarland, in an SUV on the city's northeast side. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call around 11 a.m. reporting a shooting at the intersection of Irwin Avenue and 45th Street.
