On May 11, 2024, the Indianapolis community was shaken by the violent death of 46-year-old Clarence L. McGee, Sr., a Black male resident of the city. That evening, around 7:50 p.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of North North Ewing Street on the near east side following reports of a person shot.
