In the early morning hours of April 4, 2020, a brief and violent encounter at a motel on the east side of Indianapolis tragically ended the life of 21-year-old Dejure Taylor. A male resident of the city, Taylor was at the Motor 8 Inn when he and another man, Robert Edwards, were approached by three individuals. The interaction was short-lived before two of the men, one of whom was later identified as Dwayne Pope Jr., drew firearms and began shooting.
