In the quiet, early morning hours of September 12, 2020, in the small village of Venedocia, a single gunshot shattered the peace and ended the life of 19-year-old George McLaurine of Lima, Ohio. Just before 1 a.m., the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office received a distressing 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a grim tableau: McLaurine, a male, lay unconscious and not breathing in the yard, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound.
